How to Verify a Payday Lender's Licence
Every payday lender has to be licensed in each province where it lends, and that includes online lenders. You can check our licences yourself:
- Ontario: Use the province's business licence search. Search licence number 4724330 or “Cash-X”.
- Saskatchewan: Use the FCAA's FCAA411 licence lookup or the list of licensed payday lenders.
In Ontario, if you borrow from an unlicensed lender, you only have to repay the amount you borrowed, not the cost of borrowing.
Warning Signs of a Payday Loan Scam
- They ask for an upfront fee, a deposit, or “insurance” before sending your loan. AppleTree Cash never does this.
- They charge more than $14 per $100 in Ontario or Saskatchewan.
- No licence number is shown, or the number isn't on the provincial registry.
- They contact you out of the blue by text or social media offering a “guaranteed” loan.
- They want payment in gift cards, crypto, or wire transfers.
If you get a message claiming to be from AppleTree Cash that looks suspicious, email us at service@appletreecash.com before you respond.
How We Lend Responsibly
We look at your income and banking history, not just your credit score. We never offer rollovers, refinancing, or extensions, because payday loans should be a short-term fix, not long-term debt. Before you sign, your agreement shows your exact loan amount, total cost, and repayment date, and you can cancel within 2 business days. Read our full Responsible Lending Policy.
