💬 Common Concerns

AppleTree Cash complaints — answered honestly

The most frequently raised concerns, how they're addressed under Canadian consumer protection law, and what to do if you have an unresolved issue.

The most common concerns

Like all payday lenders, AppleTree Cash attracts a specific set of recurring questions. Most are industry-wide — they reflect the nature of short-term lending, not specific misconduct. Here's an honest breakdown.

Rates
"The interest rate is too high."
This is the most common complaint about any payday lender — and it's not unfair. Provincial regulations cap fees at $14 per $100 borrowed in Ontario. This is the legal maximum, it's disclosed upfront before you sign, and it applies equally to every licenced lender. The solution is to borrow only what you need for the shortest term possible.
EFT
"Money came out of my account unexpectedly."
Repayment is collected via pre-authorized EFT (electronic funds transfer) on the agreed repayment date. Repayment dates are set out in the Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD) agreement you sign before funds are sent. If insufficient funds are available on that date, your bank may charge an NSF fee — this comes from your bank, not from the lender.
Approval
"I was declined with no explanation."
Lenders are not required by law to disclose specific reasons for denial. Approval decisions are based on income verification and banking history — employment type, pay frequency, and account standing all factor in. A declined application is a risk assessment, not a punitive action, and does not affect your credit score.
Collections
"I was contacted multiple times about a missed payment."
Collection activity on defaulted loans is governed by provincial debt collection regulations. Creditors cannot call at unreasonable hours, cannot contact your employer without consent, and cannot use threatening language. If you have a concern about how your account is being handled, email us directly at service@appletreecash.com and we'll address it promptly.
Service
"How do I get help with my loan?"
AppleTree Cash's customer service team responds to inquiries by email. For the fastest resolution, include your loan agreement number and a clear description of your question or request when you reach out. Most issues are resolved promptly — the team is familiar with common questions around funding timelines, repayment dates, and account details.
Repayment
"What if I need more time to repay?"
AppleTree Cash works with borrowers who reach out proactively. If you're concerned about an upcoming repayment, the best step is to contact the team before your due date — the earlier you communicate, the more flexibility is available to work something out.
📋 A note on online reviews
Review forums over-represent negative experiences — satisfied customers rarely write reviews. This doesn't invalidate complaints, but reading the distribution matters more than reading individual one-star posts. Look for patterns across multiple reviews rather than single incidents.
